Ryan helps clients work backwards from their end goal to find the most thorough, cost-efficient solution to a problem. Instead of spending money on abstract, theoretical analysis, he focuses time and resources on what will actually move the client toward their real objective. He leans heavily on his love of writing, research, and problem solving, and because he’s deeply familiar with modern legal research tools, AI, and legal tech, he can often reach a solid solution more quickly and affordably than is typical. Recently, Ryan spends more time designing and building systems, automations, and improvements than taking new clients. His goal is to fix problems and make improvements that never happen when everyone is too busy with individual client matters.
Outside of work, Ryan's life centers on his family. He and his wife, Amber, homeschool their four kids -- Winston, Thatcher, Beckett, and Clementine. He enjoys being activtly involved in the kids' school, sports, and family hobbies like mountain biking, hiking, and snowboarding. Family, both immediate and extended, means more to Ryan than anything on this earth, and they are the main reason he pushes himself to be better every day.
But Ryan's worldview is not limited to "this earth". His favorite literary passage is John 1:1-5, because it conveys not only the Christian gospel but also the philosophical and rational depth of Christianity. Specifically, Ryan loves the Greek word "logos" as a way to describe Christ as the eternal, creative, and organizing principle of the Universe -- a perfect blend of Jewish thought (religious) and Greek thought (secular). This reality aligns with what Ryan observes in Creation and gives him a realistic, eternal hope.
From a personality standpoint, Ryan is externally mellow but internally wound up. He tends to invest deeply in a relatively small circle of relationships rather than maintaining a wide social circle. He enjoys reading, mountain biking, snowboarding, being outdoors, and trying (repeatedly) to get in good shape.
So far, Ryan's 3 boys cannot take him down, so he wrestles them on the daily to get an ego boost from defeating small children. But that won't last long.
